How the ordering system works

How customers place orders on your page and how you receive, accept, reject and complete them in the orders dashboard.

Restanaut's ordering system connects your public restaurant page, where customers order, with your orders dashboard, where you and your team handle those orders in real time.

How customers place an order

  • Customers open your restaurant page, from a link, your website, social media, or by scanning a QR code.
  • They browse your menu and add dishes to the basket, choosing sizes and options if you offer them.
  • At checkout they pick a delivery method you've enabled: eat in (with their table number), pick-up, or delivery with their address.
  • They enter their contact details and, if you allow it, an optional note for the kitchen.
  • After placing the order they land on a confirmation page that updates live: order placed, accepted with an estimated waiting time, ready, or rejected.

How you receive orders

Every new order appears instantly on your orders page, no refreshing needed. A badge shows how many orders await confirmation, and you can be alerted by push notifications, email and a sound alarm.

The orders page has two tabs:

  • In Progress, new and accepted orders that still need your attention.
  • Done, completed and rejected orders.

Selecting an order shows its full details: the dishes with sizes and extras, totals, delivery method and address, the customer's contact details, and their note if they added one.

Accepting an order

Press Accept and enter the estimated waiting time in minutes. The customer immediately sees that their order was accepted along with your time estimate. When the food is ready or handed over, press Done.

Rejecting an order

If you can't fulfill an order, press Reject and pick a reason, or write your own. The customer is informed right away with the reason you selected.

Orders that aren't accepted in time are rejected automatically, so customers are never left waiting without an answer. You can configure this time yourself.

Staying connected

The orders page shows a connection indicator, when it says Connected, orders stream in live. Keep the page open on a tablet, phone or computer at your counter. You can also install the Restanaut app on your device directly from the orders page to receive push notifications.

Printing orders

Each order can be printed with one click, on a thermal receipt printer or plain A4 paper, so the kitchen always has a clear ticket to work from.
