Automatic rejection of unconfirmed orders
Orders you don't accept in time are rejected automatically, here's why, and where to change how long customers wait.
When a customer places an order, they wait on the confirmation page for your answer. If nobody at the restaurant reacts, that customer would be left hanging, not knowing whether food is coming. To prevent that, Restanaut automatically rejects orders that aren't accepted within a set time.
How it works
- A new order arrives and waits for confirmation on your orders page.
- If you accept it in time, the customer gets your waiting-time estimate as usual.
- If the time runs out first, the order is rejected automatically and the customer is informed right away, so they can call you or order elsewhere instead of waiting indefinitely.
By default, orders are auto-rejected after 5 minutes.
Changing the auto-reject time
- Open your restaurant settings page.
- Edit the delivery options.
- Set 'Auto-reject unhandled orders after [min.]' to the number of minutes that fits your workflow, and save.
The current value is always visible on your restaurant settings page, shown as 'Auto-reject after X min.' among your delivery options.
Picking a good value
- Keep it short. Customers wait on the confirmation screen, a short limit with a quick answer beats a long silent wait.
- Make sure someone is alerted before the timer runs out: turn on the sound alarm at the counter and push notifications on staff phones.
