Connecting a printer to receive and approve orders automatically

A connected printer app runs on a computer at your restaurant and stays linked to Restanaut. New orders appear on it the moment customers place them, print automatically, and can be approved without anyone touching the dashboard. It's the hands-free way to run a busy kitchen.

Adding a printer

• Find the Printers card and press Edit.
• Enter a name for the printer, for example 'Kitchen', and add it.
• Open the printer you just created to see its connection URL.

Connecting the desktop app

• Copy the connection URL from the printer's page.
• Paste it into your desktop printing app and connect.
• The app links to Restanaut over a secure connection and starts receiving this restaurant's orders.

What a connected printer can do

• Receive new orders instantly as customers place them.
• Load the list of previous orders.
• Approve (accept) an order, reject it, or toggle it between in progress and ready.

Every action stays in sync, an order approved from the printer updates your orders page and notifies the customer, just as if you had done it on the dashboard.

Automatic approval

Automatic approval is handled by the desktop printing app, not by the Restanaut website. When you enable it in the app, each incoming order is printed and approved for you, so your kitchen can start cooking immediately without confirming anything by hand.

If you would rather review orders yourself, leave automatic approval off in the app and approve each order from the printer or from your orders page.

Keeping it secure

• The connection URL is a secret, anyone who has it can receive and manage this restaurant's orders. Don't share it or post it publicly.
• Add a separate printer for each device so you can manage them independently.
• Removing a printer immediately invalidates its URL, use this if a device is lost or no longer used.
