Letting customers order half-and-half pizzas

Half and half lets a customer split one item between two choices from the same category. It's the classic way to order a pizza that's half one topping and half another, but it works for any category where combining two halves makes sense.

Turning it on for a category

• Open the menu editor for your restaurant.
• Press the + button on the category and choose Allow ordering half and half.
• A 'Can order half and half' tag appears on the category so you can see it's enabled.
• Save your changes.

The category needs at least two dishes for half and half to be offered, since a customer picks two of them.

How customers order it

• On your menu page a '+ Half and half' button appears next to the category name.
• Tapping it opens a picker that lists only that category's dishes.
• The customer selects two dishes; once the second is chosen the picker closes automatically.

Pricing and the basket

The combination shows up as a single basket line, for example '1/2 Margherita + 1/2 Pepperoni', priced at half of each dish added together. It behaves like any other item, so the customer can change its quantity or remove it.

Good to know

• The '+ Half and half' button only shows when the category has at least two available dishes.
• Both halves always come from the same category.
• Add-ons aren't applied to a half-and-half combination, since they belong to individual dishes.
